Beams, alot of ways to install them. Here are some photos of what I did. I coat or wrap the beam (contact with concrete) nail the strap(s), cut the block out, set the beam inplace and brace under thebeam until concrete is cured!

Make a mistake? placement of beam? simply cut out again the correct area and fill in the old and glue, done! try that with frame or block! 

 Another way make a plug (size of the beam plus some extra wxh, and put in the wall, to be removed after concrete has been poured, A beam pocket!
